It’s easy to keep your Interpet CF Internal Power filter clean thanks to the easy clean cartridge system.

How do I change my aquarium filter cartridge?

Think of your aquarium filter as a security guard, keeping out harmful particles to keep your water healthy. It includes cartridges (carbon floss-like pads) that clear and purify water along with a sponge to remove large waste. Over time, these filter cartridges can become dirty and less effective, needing to be replaced.

If you’re unsure where to begin or have never done it before, fear not! In this article, we’ll guide you through the process of changing your tank’s filter cartridge, as well as how to spot when it’s time for a change.

Monthly maintenance couldn’t be easier. Change the white floss filter cartridge to keep water clean, clear, and dirt-free. You won’t even need to get your hands wet! All you need to do is pull the dirty cartridge out and replace it with a new one.

You can buy new cartridges in single packs or in handy triple packs, meaning you’ll always have a new filter cartridge handy when it’s time to carry out your aquarium’s monthly maintenance programme.

How often should I change my fish tank’s filter cartridge?

It’s recommended to change the filter cartridge every month, and sponges every three months. Over time, the cartridge floss will become blocked as it traps materials and its carbon capacity will diminish, making it less effective at filtering your aquarium water.

Simply remove the old filter cartridge and sponge and swap in a new one. Regularly replacing it allows your filter to perform just like new, keeping out pesky particles that could otherwise pollute your tank’s water.

How do I know when to replace my fish tank’s cartridge filter?

Within a month of use, you might notice that the water in your aquarium becomes cloudier or less clear. This is a sign that the filter cartridge is near the end of its lifespan and can no longer function properly.

A reduced flow rate in your filter can also indicate a clog, which hampers its ability to effectively purify your aquarium water.

Can filter cartridges be reused?

No, filter cartridges are designed for single use. Once they become dirty and clogged with waste they can no longer provide effective filtration. You should use a fresh cartridge each time instead. If you have any queries or problems with your filter, please see our filtration FAQs
