How long do aquarium filters last?

A filters lifespan depends on a variety of factors, including the type of filter and the quality of maintenance.

For cartridge filters, the cartridges should be replaced every month (28 days) the floss will become blocked with trapped material and the carbon capacity for removing toxins will become exhausted. The Algaway cartridge’s ability to remove algae food will be exhausted. Replace both every month to keep your aquarium healthy, clean, clear and algae free.

How do I know when to clean my aquarium filter?

Why is my aquarium filter so loud?

Can I turn off my aquarium filter at night?

It’s not recommended to turn off your aquarium filter at night. Filters work more efficiently when they are running continuously.
